ShinyHunters Leak Alleged Data From Qantas, Vietnam Airlines and Other Major Firms

A hacking group calling themselves "Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters" claimed to have stolen nearly a billion records from 39 major companies. The group originated from a report published on October 3, 2025, by Hackread.com. They demanded negotiations with Salesforce and the affected businesses by October 10, threatening to release the data. The threat was to release the entire data set if their demands weren't met. The group's name implies a combination of several notorious hacking groups' tactics. They subsequently leaked data from six of the targeted companies. The leaked data exposed customer and business details, including names, addresses, and more. The companies affected were Fujifilm, GAP, INC., Vietnam Airlines, Engie Resources, Quantas Airways Limited, and Albertsons Companies, Inc. These initial leaks contained personal information. The hackers have stated that no further data will be released. The already leaked data represents all they intend to share. This event highlights significant cybersecurity concerns for the affected companies and their customers.
