Small Business Administration Cuts Off All Minnesota Grants Over Somali Fraud

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is halting all grant funding to Minnesota due to a massive fraud scandal. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler expressed disgust at the state's alleged cover-up of extensive fraud. Investigations have already identified half a billion dollars in fraudulent activity in Minnesota. Loeffler stated the full scope of the international scam remains unknown and could reach billions. This drastic measure aims to stop the waste of taxpayer dollars and thoroughly investigate the fraud. The fraud is particularly linked to Somali migrants, a connection the article suggests Democrats are ignoring. Initially, Loeffler announced the suspension of $5.5 million in funding. However, the decision now encompasses all SBA funds to the state. Individuals indicted in a $1 billion Somali fraud scheme also received millions in PPP loans. Additionally, the SBA identified over 13,600 additional suspected fraudulent PPP loans in Minnesota totaling $430 million. Independent journalist Nick Shirley's exposé brought this extensive fraud network to light. The SBA's decision to revoke funding is a response to Governor Tim Walz's alleged facilitation of fraud and refusal to enforce laws.
