Affected owners reported the issue on various online platforms, detailing the frightening experience. The issue didn't brick the cars immediately, but the failure happened unexpectedly during operation. Some owners experienced powertrain failure at highway speeds, while others had it occur at slower speeds. Jeep pulled the problematic update promptly after receiving numerous complaints from owners. The software had already downloaded to many vehicles before retraction. Jeep's social engagement team advised owners to ignore the update notification if they hadn’t installed it.
