Sony Teases New GPU Tech For the PS6
Sony and AMD are partnering to develop cutting-edge GPU technologies for the upcoming PlayStation 6. The collaboration focuses on innovations like Radiance Cores, designed to enhance ray tracing and path tracing capabilities. They are also working on "Universal Compression" to boost performance and efficiency in future GPUs. Mark Cerny and Jack Huynh highlighted these advancements in a recent video, emphasizing the early stage of development. The goal is to overcome the limitations of current approaches to graphics upscaling and rendering. Sony is integrating components of AMD's next-gen RDNA architecture for improved console graphics. AMD's Radiance Cores will likely be incorporated into future desktop GPUs as well. These technologies aim to create more realistic and visually immersive gaming experiences. The next PlayStation is expected to launch in a few years.
