Startale Opens Japan Digital Bond Paying Interest And Principal In JPYSC
Startale Japan has launched a one-year digital corporate bond with a total offering of ¥99.9 million. This bond offers a fixed 5% annual pre-tax interest rate, with payments made in JPYSC. Subscriptions are open from October 6 to November 10 for units starting at ¥100,000. JPYSC is a yen-denominated stablecoin issued by SBI Shinsei Trust Bank. This offering serves as a real-world test for settling corporate bonds using a stablecoin. Investors will receive both interest payments and principal redemption in JPYSC through the Startale App. The bond's maturity date is December 1, 2027. This initiative aims to explore how a regulated stablecoin can integrate with traditional fixed-income products. While the bond size is small, the settlement model being tested is the primary focus. Successful implementation could pave the way for applying this model to larger financing transactions.
