Google Workspace now offers general availability of inbound SCIM APIs for standardized identity lifecycle management. This feature enables real-time synchronization between Google Workspace and any SCIM-compatible Identity Provider, HR system, or custom application. When user permissions change in an external identity provider, access to Google Workspace and connected applications is updated instantly. Previously, custom integration work was required, but inbound SCIM simplifies this process. SCIM is an open protocol for synchronizing directory information between identity systems. With inbound SCIM, Google Workspace functions as a Service Provider, allowing external IdPs to manage users and groups. This automation saves IT teams time and costs, ensures seamless onboarding for new employees, and enhances security through instant deprovisioning of departing employees. The admin experience is simplified with easy token generation and controls to prevent manual Workspace changes. Admins can enable or disable this feature at the domain level, and end users will not notice any direct changes. This new capability is rolling out gradually starting July 9, 2026, and is available for various Business and Enterprise editions.
