Google Classroom now offers enhanced rubric creation and grading tools for educators. A new feature allows users to instantly generate Classroom-ready rubrics directly from the assignment creation page using AI. Gemini can draft relevant rubric criteria based on the assignment's context, which educators can then review and edit. This AI-generated rubric can save valuable preparation time for teachers. Additionally, educators can convert existing rubric files into a Classroom-ready format within the assignment creation workflow. Rubrics can also be drafted using Gemini from a dedicated tab, allowing collaboration during lesson planning. These drafted rubrics can be exported to Google Sheets or Docs before being attached to a class. This new functionality is available for users aged 18 and older. The feature will be enabled by default for administrators if Gemini in Classroom is active. The rollout will be rapid, starting on August 5, 2026, and will be available for Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus plans.
