Supreme court rebuffs Trump’s appeal in E Jean Carroll case as latest decisions released – US politics live
The Supreme Court has rejected Donald Trump's attempt to overturn a $5 million defamation verdict awarded to E. Jean Carroll. This decision comes as the court prepares to release its final opinions on several other significant cases. Major rulings are still pending, including one on Donald Trump's efforts to alter birthright citizenship and another concerning Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook. Previously, the Supreme Court delivered substantial victories to the Trump administration concerning immigration policies. These included allowing the administration to restrict asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border, significantly altering the asylum system. Additionally, the court ruled in favor of revoking temporary protected status for hundreds of thousands of individuals from Haiti and Syria. The court's conservative justices were responsible for these immigration rulings. Critics have accused the Supreme Court of promoting a white supremacist agenda with these decisions.
