T-Mobile is implementing further layoffs and closing additional retail stores in the United States. The company has announced 63 new layoffs impacting employees in both retail and headquarters roles across 13 Washington state locations. These job cuts are scheduled to occur between September 21 and November 18, 2026. An additional 14 workers will also lose their jobs during this period, with their layoffs having been previously announced. T-Mobile has also informed the Washington Employment Security Department of six store closures. In some instances, these store closures are directly linked to the layoffs, though some employees have been offered relocation opportunities. A T-Mobile spokesperson explained these changes are part of a "retail evolution" initiated in 2024. This strategy aims to create a more focused store portfolio, emphasizing company-operated locations supported by digital tools and expert staff. Deutsche Telekom, the majority owner, previously reported that T-Mobile cut 4,671 employees in the U.S. during the first half of 2026. This reduction represented a 6.7% decrease in the U.S. workforce. The specific T-Mobile stores slated for closure are located in Seattle, Bellingham, Bothell, Vancouver, Kennewick, and Tacoma.
