Teens Want More Monster Energy As Celsius Loses Its Fizz
A recent Piper Sandler survey of nearly 9,000 teens reveals a shift in energy drink preferences. Monster Energy is experiencing growing appeal among this demographic, with more teens intending to increase their consumption of the brand. In contrast, Celsius has seen a significant decline in preference. The survey indicates that 23% of teens plan to drink more Monster, surpassing other brands like Alani Nu, Red Bull, and Celsius. Monster maintained its second-place ranking in brand preference, slightly increasing its market share. Celsius dropped from fourth to sixth place, losing substantial preference share. Alani Nu, while remaining third, also showed a loss of momentum. Notably, Monster consumption is predominantly among male teens, whereas Alani Nu appeals more strongly to females. The survey also highlighted that energy drinks are the primary source of energy for young consumers, surpassing soda and coffee. This trend is reflected in stock performance, with Celsius down 41% year-to-date, while Monster is up approximately 14.3%.
