Google Sheets is enhancing its AI functions by now grounding them in Google Search results. This update allows the AI to access real-time information from the web to answer user prompts. Previously, the AI function in Sheets could generate text, summarize, categorize, and analyze sentiment. Last month, this feature was expanded to seven additional languages. Now, users can leverage the AI for tasks like finding movie schedules, tracking market sentiment, or getting current weather updates. This improved functionality is available by default to users with Gemini in Sheets enabled. Administrators can manage access through the Workspace Help Center. The rollout begins on October 15, 2025, for Rapid and Scheduled Release domains and will take up to 15 days for visibility. This feature is available for specific Google Workspace editions, including Business Standard/Plus and Enterprise Standard/Plus. It is also accessible with Google AI Pro and Ultra, and for users who previously purchased Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons.
