The ESAs finalise rules to facilitate access to financial and sustainability information on the ESAP

The European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA, and ESMA) have published a Final Report on the draft implementing technical standards for the European Single Access Point (ESAP). The ESAP is a two-tier system where information is submitted by entities to collection bodies and then made available to the ESAP. The report outlines requirements for collection bodies and the ESAP's functionalities to enable users to access financial and sustainability information effectively. The requirements for collection bodies include the format and timing of information submission, validation checks, and metadata. The ESAP's functionalities will make information easily accessible to users, including categorization of reporting entities, identifiers, and a public Application Programming Interface. The ESAP is expected to start collecting information in July 2026 and publishing it by July 2027. The setup of the ESAP will contribute to the establishment of the Savings and Investments Union. The ESAP will facilitate access to publicly available information relevant to financial services, capital markets, and sustainability. The Final Report has been sent to the European Commission for adoption. The report is a key milestone for the successful establishment of a fully operational ESAP.
