Google is releasing the Gemini desktop app for Windows 10 and 11. This new application is designed to integrate smoothly with existing user workflows. It offers quick access to Gemini via an Alt + Space keyboard shortcut for immediate tasks. Users can leverage the app to draft project summaries by pulling data from Google Workspace applications. The Gemini app also enables the generation of custom images directly from the desktop. This release signifies the initial native desktop functionality for Gemini on Windows, with future enhancements planned. The feature is enabled by default for organizations with Gemini, controlled by generative AI settings in the Workspace Admin console. End users do not have separate settings for this feature. All Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account users can access the Gemini app. Users can download the app from gemini.google/desktop.
