Marion, Indiana, famous for basketball and James Dean, is also home to the Quilters Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was inspired by Marie Webster, a prominent quilter who lived in the Marie Webster House. Webster's quilt patterns were published in Ladies' Home Journal from 1911 to 1921, and she ran a successful mail-order business. She also designed new patterns, wrote a book on quilting, lectured, and judged competitions. The Marie Webster House, built in 1902, showcases a blend of Victorian and Arts and Crafts styles. After Webster moved away, the house was converted into apartments and later fell into disrepair. Following refurbishment, the house was listed on national and state historic registers. The Quilters Hall of Fame now resides in this beautifully maintained historic home. The museum hosts four different collections annually and is open from Tuesday to Saturday, excluding winter months. Admission fees apply, with free entry for children under twelve accompanied by an adult, and ample parking is available.
