Third victim dies in Austin mass shooting

A mass shooting in downtown Austin on Sunday resulted in three fatalities. Police identified the victims as Savitha Shan, Ryder Harrington, and Jorge Pederson. Harrington was a Texas Tech student, and Shan was a University of Texas student. Two other victims remain in critical condition after the shooting. The shooter, identified as Ndiaga Diagne, was fatally shot by police at the scene. Diagne's guns were purchased legally in San Antonio in 2017. Authorities are investigating the motive, with the FBI involved in the investigation. Previously, the FBI found "indicators" of potential terrorism, but the shooter was not previously known to authorities. Police are releasing body-camera footage and increasing alert levels throughout major cities.
