Top Democrat says intel visit canceled after Laura Loomer attacked him online
Senator Mark Warner's classified intelligence agency meeting was canceled following online attacks by far-right activist Laura Loomer. Warner expressed concern that Loomer's actions are akin to purges seen in authoritarian regimes. He suggested Loomer was responsible for the dismissal of intelligence agency leaders and the revocation of security clearances for several individuals. Warner stated that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth canceled his visit to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency headquarters after Loomer criticized him and the NGA director. Loomer had publicly questioned why an intelligence agency would host Senator Warner, whom she described as an "anti-Trump Democrat senator." She alleged that many "Deep State actors" within the intelligence community were sabotaging the Trump administration. Loomer also criticized the NGA director, suggesting he and his staff were "Trump haters." In response, Loomer claimed Warner is a threat to national security and lacks credibility. She accused Warner of weaponizing intelligence agencies to promote the "debunked Russia Collusion Hoax." This refers to a Senate Intelligence Committee report that confirmed Russian interference but found no evidence of Trump campaign collusion. The situation highlights tensions surrounding intelligence agencies and political affiliations.
