Trump and Zelensky discuss Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine, sources say

President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky had a 30-minute call discussing the potential supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. These missiles, with their extended range, could strike deep into Russia, including Moscow. Zelensky believes the missiles could compel Russia to negotiate, as they would bolster Ukrainian air defense significantly. Trump has indicated he's made a decision regarding supplying Tomahawks to NATO countries for transfer. Zelensky informed Trump about Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system and noted his support. The call was described as productive by Zelensky, who also mentioned opportunities to strengthen Ukraine's defenses. Putin has warned that supplying Tomahawks would represent a major escalation of the conflict. Trump wants to determine how Ukraine would utilize the missiles before providing them, if he agrees. A Ukrainian delegation is expected in Washington next week to discuss security and sanctions. The Tomahawks can target hardened structures unlike existing Ukrainian long-range strike options.
