Trump seeks $6 million in legal fees after Georgia case dismised

Trump's legal team is demanding over $6 million in legal fees from the Fulton County District Attorney's office. This request stems from the recently dismissed Georgia election interference case against Trump. A new Georgia law, passed in response to the case, facilitates this request, allowing defendants to seek fee reimbursement. Trump was initially charged with 13 counts connected to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. District Attorney Fani Willis originally led the case but was later disqualified due to allegations of a relationship with a prosecutor. Peter Skandalakis replaced Willis and ultimately dismissed the case in November. He cited the futility of prosecution given Trump's re-election prospects and legal complications. The dismissal followed the legal complexities. The White House and Trump's lawyer did not immediately provide comment on the request.
