Trump Takes Maiden Flight On New Air Force One Jet
Donald Trump debuted a refurbished Boeing 747-8 luxury jet that will serve as the interim Air Force One. This event coincided with his trip to North Dakota to honor the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The library, an extensive facility, overlooks the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Trump's visit and the plane's inaugural flight as interim Air Force One occur just before the nation's 250th anniversary. The $400 million Boeing 747-8 was a gift from the Qatari government last year, representing one of Washington's largest ever received gifts. The plane's modification to meet military security standards was confirmed by the Air Force. Trump expressed pride in the aircraft, highlighting Qatar's significant investment. He stated that minimal taxpayer funds were used for the upgrades, contrasting it with the cost of building a similar plane from scratch. The permanent new Air Force One fleet, three Boeing 747-8 jets under the VC-25B program, is still undergoing preparation and is not expected until mid-2028. These future aircraft will feature advanced technology and enhanced presidential travel capabilities.
