Trump’s dinner with tech CEOs at the White House won’t include Musk
President Donald Trump is hosting a significant dinner at the White House for numerous prominent tech CEOs. The guest list includes leaders from major companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Meta, along with founders and CEOs of prominent AI firms. Notably absent is Elon Musk, whose relationship with Trump has publicly deteriorated. The dinner will take place in the newly renovated Rose Garden, described by a White House spokesperson as a prestigious venue. This event follows a meeting of the White House's new Artificial Intelligence Education task force, chaired by First Lady Melania Trump. The task force aims to develop AI education for American youth, with the First Lady emphasizing watchful guidance for AI. Trump has also acknowledged the potential drawbacks of AI. Meanwhile, a prominent Republican figure, Senator Josh Hawley, has sharply criticized the tech industry and the lack of AI regulation. Hawley specifically targeted Meta and ChatGPT, advocating for government inspection of AI systems. Some dinner attendees are expected to participate in the AI Education task force meeting. The First Lady has also initiated an AI project contest for students and championed legislation against online sexual exploitation using AI. President Trump signed the "Take It Down Act" to address this issue.
