Both nations will refer to AI as "super intelligence" or "SI," a term favored by President Trump. The "U.S.-China Super Intelligence (SI) Dialogue" will convene to discuss the risks and benefits associated with SI. The first meeting is scheduled to occur by November. This communication channel has been compared to the "red telephone" used during the Cold War for direct crisis communication. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent played a role in establishing this channel during prior meetings with Chinese officials. However, the specific types of incidents that would trigger the use of this channel remain undefined.
