Uber just expanded into hotels, AI, and ‘room service’—and it’s moving fast
Uber's annual GO-GET event unveiled new features focused on saving customers time. The event highlighted Uber's expansion into travel with Hotels on Uber, partnering with Expedia. This integration allows users to book hotels directly through the Uber app, similar to rides and food orders. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized travel as Uber's next frontier, streamlining the booking process. Expedia's CEO, Ariane Gorin, echoed the natural synergy between the two companies. Uber also announced future integration of VRBO properties on its platform. New features include "Eats for the Way," "Travel Mode," and "Shop for Me," enhancing user convenience. "Cart Assistant" and voice bookings utilize AI to simplify shopping and ride booking. These additions showcase Uber's ambition to become an all-encompassing "everything" platform. The Expedia and VRBO partnerships demonstrate Uber's potential in the travel-booking sector. These new features aim to offer a comprehensive travel experience from one app.
