Ukraine war briefing: Iran accuses Kyiv of deadly attack on Iranian vessel in Caspian Sea

Iran condemned a reported Ukrainian attack on its commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, which it claims resulted in one fatality and one injury. Tehran has labeled this incident an act of aggression and vowed to protect its national interests. This accusation from Iran coincides with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's assertion that Russia is sharing Middle East satellite imagery with Iran to aid in directing strikes. Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine has achieved significant long-range strike successes in the Caspian Sea against vessels involved in Iranian military cargo shipments. Furthermore, Zelenskyy revealed that Russia intends to enlist 30,000 North Korean troops for its ongoing conflict and is preparing for their arrival. Ukraine also claims North Korea has sent an estimated 14,000 soldiers to Russia's Kursk Region under a mutual defense pact. Separately, Russian-installed authorities reported twelve people, including five children, died in a drone attack on a holiday camp in Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia, accusing Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians. Early Sunday, Kyiv experienced a Russian ballistic missile attack, causing fires in several districts, though an air alert was eventually lifted. Kazakhstan's President Tokayev suggested a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine could be possible if both sides agree to a conflict freeze and resume negotiations.
