Upcoming changes to reboot, alert, and log settings for Google Meet hardware devices
Google is updating the Google Meet hardware admin console with new features and a better user experience. These changes affect alert configuration, time zone settings, log upload, device state reporting, and scheduled reboots. During a two to three-week rollout, both old and new settings will be visible. Alert configurations will be streamlined, separating email and SMS alerts with individual checkboxes. The time zone setting will become more customizable, allowing for manual selection, IP address detection, or using the setup configuration. Log uploads and device state reporting will consolidate three separate settings into a single unified setting under Data Sharing. The default state of this unified setting will depend on the previous configurations. Device state reporting will be enabled for all Google Meet hardware customers. Scheduled reboots will offer more predictability by allowing specific days of the week to be chosen instead of just a frequency. Admins are advised to review their settings as legacy configurations will be migrated. Audit logs will be updated to reflect these changes.
