Upcoming changes to the Euribor Panel
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has issued a statement regarding changes to the Euribor panel. This statement is in ESMA's capacity as supervisor of the European Money Market Institute (EMMI), which administers Euribor. EMMI announced that Cecabank, a Spanish bank, will withdraw from the Euribor panel. This withdrawal will take effect on September 30, 2026, marking Cecabank's final day of contributing data. ESMA and its Euribor College of Supervisors have evaluated the impact of Cecabank's departure. They concluded that the withdrawal will not negatively affect Euribor's representativeness of the Euro unsecured money market. This departure occurs after Euribor's panel was expanded since 2022. Four new banks have joined, with KBC Bank being the most recent addition in May 2026. ESMA encourages other Euro unsecured money market active institutions to consider joining the panel. This effort aims to maintain the robustness and representativeness of Euribor within the EU financial system.
