Google Meet is enhancing its video quality and data usage management for Google Workspace customers. Starting June 29, 2026, an updated Admin console setting will limit video bandwidth on both uplink and downlink. This change aims to reduce overall data consumption and improve call quality for all users. Previously, the "Limit video bandwidth" setting only affected uplink traffic. The update also boosts quality for two-person calls by increasing uplink bandwidth usage in that specific scenario. Existing Admin console settings will remain active, but administrators can learn more about configuring default video quality in the Help Center. End users do not have direct control over this particular setting. This feature is rolling out to both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, with visibility potentially extending beyond 15 days. The update is available to all Google Workspace customers.
