CISA is reportedly using Anthropic's Mythos model to scan government code for security vulnerabilities. This initiative is being conducted by CISA's Attack Surface Evaluation team. The team performs digital security assessments and hacking exercises across government systems. Early audits using Mythos have allegedly uncovered a significant number of bugs. However, the exact scope of the code scanned and the nature of the vulnerabilities remain undisclosed. The National Security Agency has also been utilizing Mythos since April, despite it being on a blacklist. NSA analysts have reportedly been impressed with the model's capabilities during classified testing. Anthropic released a public version of Mythos called Fable with cybersecurity safeguards. The White House then mandated that foreigners be banned from running Fable. This directive led to a temporary global shutdown of the model, which has since been resolved.
