US Has Revoked More Than 300,000 Visas In Trump's Second Term

The Trump administration has revoked over 300,000 U.S. visas since its second term began, a record pace for any administration. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott stated this demonstrates zero tolerance for visa holders who break laws, commit fraud, or threaten national security. The vast majority of revocations were for criminal activity, public safety concerns, immigration violations, or fraud. A significant portion of these revocations were for assault, driving under the influence, theft, and substance abuse offenses. Additionally, 4,000 visas were revoked targeting individuals involved in birth tourism schemes. This effort aims to prevent the exploitation of U.S. birthright citizenship laws. The Justice Department is also prioritizing investigations into birth tourism. The pace of revocations is substantially higher than the roughly 40,000 revoked in the last year of the previous administration. This accelerated action contrasts with findings that the prior administration took minimal action on visa overstays. The State Department has established a visa-vetting center and a birth tourism prevention task force to enhance screening processes.
