Starting today, Google Workspace admins can use Apple's Volume Purchase Program (VPP) to enroll devices, distribute iOS apps, and automatically install mandatory apps on company-owned iOS devices. This simplifies app deployment, ensuring employees have access to essential business apps within the MDM platform. Admins can configure VPP settings at the domain, OU, or group level, and end users can refer to the Help Center for guidance on using approved work apps on their iOS devices. The rollout will begin on July 9, 2024, and will be available to Google Workspace Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials and Essentials Plus, Standard and Plus, Education Standard and Plus, Endpoint Education Upgrade, Frontline Starter and Standard, and Cloud Identity Premium customers. Apple ID sign-in is not required for company-owned iOS devices configured with VPP, and devices violating mandatory app compliance will be blocked until the required apps are installed. This update streamlines app distribution across various device types and enhances security by automatically installing mandatory apps during enrollment.
