Watch Live: RFK Jr. Testifies Before Senate Amid CDC Turmoil
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as Health and Human Services Secretary, is testifying before the Senate Finance Committee regarding the Trump administration's health agenda. His testimony is expected to address recent firings and leadership changes at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Specifically, RFK Jr. initiated the dismissal of former CDC Director Susan Monarez, which led to resignations from several other high-ranking officials. The article asserts that the CDC's perceived incompetence was evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. It claims the agency was aware of a low median Infection Fatality Rate of 0.23% as early as October 2020. Instead of targeting at-risk populations, the CDC allegedly engaged in fear-mongering about widespread fatalities alongside Democrats. This cleanup effort by Kennedy is described as causing significant backlash from the left. Concurrently, a CDC advisory committee has begun reviewing COVID-19 vaccines. This review will examine data concerning the vaccines' safety, effectiveness, and immunogenicity. The committee also intends to investigate knowledge gaps regarding the distribution, pharmacokinetics, and persistence of the spike protein, mRNA, and lipid nanoparticles. Recent studies indicate that the spike protein and mRNA from the vaccines remain in the body for a period.
