Waymo Expands to Denver and Seattle
Waymo is expanding its autonomous ride-hailing service to Denver and Seattle. Testing of its Jaguar I-Pace SUVs and Zeekr vans will commence this week. Commercial robotaxi rides are anticipated to launch in these cities by 2026. Initially, vehicles will be manually operated before autonomous technology is tested. Waymo aims to offer robotaxi trips in Denver next year and in the Seattle metropolitan area once permitted. These new locations present opportunities to test Waymo's technology in challenging weather conditions like snow and rain. Waymo currently operates over 2,000 robotaxis across several U.S. cities. The company is also expanding to Dallas, Miami, Washington D.C., and New York. Waymo is also exploring other markets, including Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Houston. This expansion signifies a significant step in Waymo's growth of its robotaxi footprint.
