World's First Fully Robotic Pharmacy Automates Prescription Dispensing
Queue, a California-based robotics startup, has launched the world's first fully autonomous robotic pharmacy. This innovative system automates prescription dispensing, verification, and delivery, operating from sealed wholesale medication bottles. It aims to significantly reduce pharmacy operating costs and improve dispensing accuracy. Queue has already deployed its technology with a major U.S. pharmacy chain for commercial use. The platform integrates dispensing, verification, and fulfillment into a single, autonomous workflow. This is distinct from traditional automation that only assists individual tasks. The system currently handles 250 common U.S. medications and incorporates multiple safety and verification steps to minimize errors. Queue's solution addresses critical workforce shortages and operational challenges within the U.S. pharmacy sector. It seeks to enhance efficiency, lower costs, and expand access to prescription services, especially in underserved areas. The company has also secured $12.6 million in funding to further its development and deployment efforts.
