Would-Be Trump Assassin Said In Book That He Looks Forward To World War III

Ryan Routh, arrested for allegedly attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, expressed a desire for World War III and to destroy the Kremlin in his self-published book. Routh criticized Trump for his foreign policy decisions, including withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal. Despite expressing a desire to fight in Ukraine against Russia, he was too old and instead tried to recruit foreign fighters. Despite his claims, Ukraine's foreign legion has denied any association with Routh. He briefly appeared in a propaganda video for the neo-Nazi Azov Brigade, which later disavowed any connection to him. Routh's book also calls for assassinating both Trump and himself. According to Semafor, Routh led a group called the International Volunteer Center, which was involved in foreign recruitment efforts for Ukraine. Despite Routh's claims of involvement, Ukraine's foreign legion has distanced itself from him. The New York Times referred to Routh as a "crusader for causes large and small" after his arrest.
